General advice

Women should not take fluconazole if they are allergic to any of the ingredients.

Fluconazole is used to treat serious fungal or yeast infections, including vaginal candidiasis, oropharyngeal candidiasis (thrush, oral thrush), esophageal candidiasis (candida esophagitis), other candida infections (including urinary tract infections, peritonitis [inflammation of the lining of the stomach], and infections that may occur in different parts of the body), or fungal (cryptococcal) meningitis. It is also used in children on life support called extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). This medicine works by killing the fungus or yeast, or preventing its growth. Fluconazole is also used to prevent candidiasis in patients having bone marrow transplants who receive cancer or radiation treatment.

Direction to Use:

DIFLUCAN® ONE is administered orally. Use in AdultsFor vaginal candidiasis, fluconazole 150 mg (DIFLUCAN® ONE) should beadministered as a single oral dose. The median time to onset of symptom relief following a 150 mg single oral dose for thetreatment of vaginal candidiasis is one day. The range of time to onset of symptomrelief is one hour to nine days. Use in ChildrenSingle dose fluconazole is not recommended for use in children under 18 years of ageexcept under doctor supervision.

Side Effects

Common fluconazole side effects include nausea, headache, and stomach pain. Diarrhea is also possible. Mild side effects tend to resolve on their own or go away when you finish your treatment course. How to use fluconazole fluconazole for the treatment of vaginal candidiasis:

Wash hands after administering the tablet to ensure soap and water are adhered to the site of application. For the treatment of esophageal candidiasis, fluconazole 150 mg (DIFLUCAN® ONE) should beadministered as a single oral dose. How should fluconazole be taken? The usual dosage of fluconazole for the treatment of vaginal candidiasis is 1 to 3 grams (5 to 10 mg) every 8 hours as needed. The usual recommended dose of fluconazole for the treatment of esophageal candidiasis is 1 gram (3.2 mg) taken in the morning and 1 gram in the evening. Fluconazole for the treatment of vaginal candidiasis should be administered in the form of oral capsules and the correct dose should be determined by the doctor based on the clinical response and the size of the fluid accumulation. Fluconazole for the treatment of esophageal candidiasis should be administered with a glass of water ( Ensure the glass is clean to prevent bacterial contamination ).
